Surpassing the 52 million package transaction milestone, Package Concierge® is revealing insights from the 2019 holiday shipping season, including the biggest year-over-year (YoY) gains in package deliveries at multifamily properties. During the 5-week 2019 holiday season from Black Friday through the end of December, Package Concierge processed nearly three million packages. Once again, the second week of the holiday season was the busiest shipping week resulting in more than 727,000 transactions processed by Package Concierge that week alone. Normalized growth rates, analyzing systems operating at properties in both 2018-19, shows 19 percent growth YoY while overall package transactions of all Package Concierge systems operating during the 2019 holiday season rose 43 percent.
“Our usage data during the holidays accentuates why automated package lockers are expanding so rapidly. According to MasterCard’s SpendingPulse report, holiday spending increased by 3.4 percent in 2019, with an eCommerce growth rate of 18.8 percent YoY. Additionally, a recent Package Concierge Zogby Research study of shoppers aged 18-25 years old (GenZ) found that 60 percent indicated Buy Online Pickup In-Store (BOPIS) plays a factor in retailer selection and almost 90 percent have made an additional purchase during an in-store visit.
